SPORTS Direct Premier side Lisburn Ladies have made a double signing with the arrivals of Lucy Johnston, returning to her former club from Linfield, and Leah Wilgaus, from Larne.
Lucy is no stranger to Lisburn Ladies FC, having come through the club’s Academy in her younger years.
She then joined Linfield where she progressed into their senior squad.
Picking up a cruciate ligament injury in 2022, Lucy regained her fitness and was back playing Premier League football before making the decision to come back to her first club.
Joining Lucy is Leah Wilgaus from Larne FC Women.
Leah’s footballing journey took her through Crusaders Academy from U15s-U19s before joining Larne’s senior squad when they entered the Premiership last season.
Both will be instrumental in showing Lisburn Ladies mean business when the league resumes after a short July holiday break.
Linfield, meanwhile, have announced the signing of Zoe McGlynn from Sligo Rovers.
Zoe, from Derry, previously played in the Sports Direct Premiership with Sion Swifts and also enjoyed a spell in the United States.
“I started out in this league with Sion Swifts and 16 and am looking forward to getting back,” said Zoe who could make her Blues debut in their Irish Cup second round clash with rivals Glentoran on Friday (July 19).
“It was an easy enough move after a few chats with the Linfield manager, Ryan McConville, and now I’m looking forward to getting into training and hopefully playing against Glentoran. These are the kind of matches you want to be involved in.”
