Sports Direct Women’s Premiership Friday night round-up… Reds go top as Linfield hit nine

CLIFTONVILLE Ladies climbed to the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership table after a convincing home win, while Linfield Women and Lisburn Rangers also picked up impressive victories on Friday evening. 

The Reds moved into pole position with a commanding display to beat Larne Women 3-0 at Solitude. 

Fionnuala Morgan opened the scoring with a header on 17 minutes, before Teegan Lynch doubled the lead early in the second half with a well-struck volley.

Victoria Carleton wrapped up the victory late on to complete another impressive performance. 

Linfield Women continued their strong form with an emphatic 9-1 success away to Crusaders Strikers. 

Cora Chambers and Keri Loughrey handed the visitors an early advantage before Rebecca Bassett pulled one back for the home side. 

Megan Bell restored Linfield’s cushion before the break, with Zoe McGlynn also finding the net. 

Bell completed her hat-trick in the second half, while Sophie McKnight, Stacey Murdough and Eva Myles also got on the scoresheet. 

Lisburn Rangers secured local bragging rights with a 3-0 victory over Lisburn Ladies at the Bluebell Stadium. 

Abbie Smyth opened the scoring in the first half before an own goal from Zoe Rodgers doubled Rangers’ advantage after the interval.

Caoimhe Gelston Mulholland added a late third to seal the win. 

The weekend action concludes on Sunday afternoon when defending champions Glentoran Women welcome Derry City Women to the Blanchflower Stadium, kick-off 3pm.
