LADIES European Tour professional Olivia Mehaffey, from Banbridge, heads up a formidable line-up of Irish golfers set to compete against an international field for the first-ever Women’s Irish Challenge, taking place at Malahide Golf Club from August 27-29, 2025.

The 54-hole stroke play tournament, part of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), will see 126 players from across Europe competing for a €45,000 prize fund.

Representing Ireland will be Olivia Mehaffey, Olivia Hunt (Epsom) and amateurs Áine Donegan (Clare), Emma Fleming (Dublin), Roisin Scanlon (Bedford), Anna Abom (Edmondstown), Olivia Costello (Roscommon), Anna Dawson (Tramaore) and Aideen Walsh (Lahinch). Their inclusion offers fans the chance to watch our homegrown talent compete against international superstars right here on Irish soil.

The Women’s Irish Challenge marks the first time Ireland has hosted a LET Access Series event, placing it alongside the Hotel Planner Tour’s Men’s Irish Challenge as an important fixture in the sport’s development pathway.

The LET Access Series serves as the official feeder tour to the Ladies European Tour (LET), providing players with vital opportunities to gain experience, earn ranking points, and secure promotion to the LET. For some of these Irish golfers, the chance to take this step is a significant milestone for fans, it’s an opportunity to see future stars in action.

Tournament Director Simon Honan said: “We really want fans to come down, get behind the Irish players, and enjoy three days of top-quality golf. The atmosphere and support from the crowd can make all the difference, and we’d love to see Malahide packed for this first edition of the Women’s Irish Challenge.”

Organised by the ForeFront Group with the support of Sport Ireland, Malahide Golf Club, RYSE Chocolate, ISHKA, FloGas, and Novellus Finance, the event also carries a strong charitable purpose. NCBRI’s Play in Pink initiative is the official charity partner, with 50% of all ticket proceeds being donated to National Breast Cancer Research Ireland.
