LGFA weekend previews with Antrim, Tyrone and Monaghan in semi-final action and Donegal in a relegation play-off… all the fixtures, venues, match times and line-ups

Compiled by Jackie Cahill

THE 2025 TG4 All-Ireland Junior and Intermediate Finalists will be confirmed on Sunday – as Donegal and Leitrim battle for survival in the Senior grade on Saturday.

The scene is set for another gripping weekend of action and eight counties have Croke Park firmly in their sights ahead of Sunday’s action.

Before that, Donegal and Leitrim meet in a Senior Championship relegation play-off on Saturday in Tubbercurry. The winners of that game will play Senior Championship football again in 2026, with the losers relegated to the Intermediate ranks.

In Sunday’s Junior semi-finals, Antrim take on Sligo while Louth go head to head with Longford in a Clones double-header.

In the Intermediate grade, Laois and Monaghan will battle it out for a final slot when they meet in Longford, as Tyrone and Westmeath prepare to lock horns in Carrick-on-Shannon.

All five games will be live-streamed on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel.

Saturday July 12

TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship relegation play-off

Donegal v Leitrim; Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry, Sligo, 2pm – Live on Spórt TG4 YouTube

Donegal and Leitrim have one more chance to stay alive in the Senior Championship.

The winners will play in the elite grade again next year, with the losers facing the Intermediate ranks.

Leitrim were TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate champions last year and will be keen to avoid dropping down.

Donegal, meanwhile, have been a senior force since capturing the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate title in 2010.

Both counties have already had chances to stay afloat but they lost out in provincial derbies, Donegal to Armagh and Leitrim to Mayo.

Following a 10-point loss to Armagh, Donegal make one change in personnel, with Eva Gallagher replacing Aoife McDermott in the inside forward line.

The Leitrim team that lost out to Mayo by seven points also shows one change for this do-or-die clash, with Aoife Gilmartin coming in for Muireann Devaney up front.

Donegal: C Friel; S McFadden, A Temple Asokuh, S McFeeley; B McLaughlin, E McGinley, C Gillespie; R Rodgers (capt.), R McColgan; S White, K Dowds, F McManamon; E Gallagher, J McFadden, N Boyle.

TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship semi-finals

Laois v Monaghan; Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, Longford, 2pm – Live on Spórt TG4 YouTube

Laois and Monaghan are both former All-Ireland Senior champions hoping to recapture past glories.

Both sides have been in good recent form and now they’ll target a Croke Park Final appearance on Sunday August 3.

Monaghan lost out at the quarter-final stage to Down last year, while Laois suffered relegation from the Senior grade.

Recently, Monaghan successfully negotiated the quarter-final hurdle, securing an impressive six-point victory over Clare, as Laois battled to a two-point victory against fellow Leinster side Wexford.

Looking at the history books, Laois were Intermediate champions last in 2022, while Monaghan are aiming for a very first All-Ireland Intermediate title.

In the race for the ZuCar Golden Boot, three of the top five are Intermediate players – but Monaghan’s Éabha Sherry is the only one of them to retain a live interest in the Championship.

Sherry’s current tally in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship is 4-14, eight points behind pace-setter Eimear Smyth from Fermanagh.

Laois: E Barry; S Farrelly, C Dunne, F McEvoy; A Gorman, A Moore, A Moran (capt.); F Dooley, J Moore; S Havill, E Galvin, C Crowley; E Lacey, E Lawlor, M Nerney.

Monaghan: Ó Kelly; C Brennan, S Brady, Á Loughman; A Garland (capt.), A Burns, C Treanor; N Flannigan, S Corley; R Courtney, H McQuaid, L Garland; É Sherry, J Duffy, S Tierney.

Tyrone v Westmeath; Avant Money Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, 2pm – Live on Spórt TG4 YouTube

Tyrone and Westmeath are both relatively recent Senior competitors now battling to return to the elite inter-county grade. The sides have already met this season in the round-robin phase of the competition, when Tyrone won comprehensively, but a much closer game is anticipated on Sunday.

There’s surely to be a keen edge to proceedings, with so much on the line, and both sides aiming to make a big impact for the remainder of the campaign.

Westmeath lost a high-scoring quarter-final against Wexford at the quarter-final stage last year, as Tyrone went all the way to Croke Park before suffering a narrow loss to Leitrim in the Final.

In the 2025 quarter-finals, Tyrone were pushed all the way by Fermanagh before winning in extra-time, as Westmeath got the better of Cavan.

Looking further back through the history books, Westmeath were Intermediate champions last in 2021, while Tyrone are aiming for their first Intermediate crown title since 2018.

Tyrone: A Coyle; J Lyons, G McKenna, E Quinn; C Campbell, M Mallon, C Canavan; A McHugh (capt.), S McCarroll; E McNamee, S Gormley, A Horisk; N O’Neill, C McCrossan, M Corrigan.

Westmeath: A Temple; Lara McCartan, S Murphy, F Coyle (capt.); C Gonoud, L Power, A Ruane; V Carr, A Roche; Lucy McCartan, S Dillon, T Dillon; G Byrne, A Jones, C Kilmurray.

TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship semi-finals

Longford v Louth; St Tiernach’s Park, Clones, 2pm – Live on Spórt TG4 YouTube

Leinster sides Longford and Louth get Sunday’s Junior semi-final double-header underway in Clones at 2pm.

Of the four semi-finalists, Antrim are the most recent winners, in 2022, while Louth were champions in 2019, and finalists last year. Longford were winners last in 2016, while Sligo’s one and only Junior title was achieved in 2006.

Already this year, Longford and Louth met in the TG4 provincial championship in April, when a couple of late points from captain Áine Breen secured victory for Louth, who went on to land the title.

Form has remained good throughout the All-Ireland series, with Louth claiming four victories from four outings to top Group A, as Longford qualified in second place behind Antrim in Group B.

Longford: A Cooney; G Kenny, L Keegan, A Brady; C McCormack, E O’Brien (capt.), E Duggan; S Gallagher, A O’Brien; S Hagan, K Crawford, E O’Reilly; K Burke, C Lohan, L McGuire.

Louth: R Lambe Fagan; R Beirth, E Hand, E Murray; S Matthews, S McLaughlin, L Byrne; Á Breen, A Halligan; L White, E Byrne, A Russell; L Collins, K Flood, C Nolan.

Antrim v Sligo; St Tiernach’s Park, Clones, 4pm – Live on Spórt TG4 YouTube

Sligo are Connacht’s sole representative in the Junior Championship in 2025, while Antrim are the reigning TG4 Ulster Junior champions and in a rich vein of form.

The Saffrons won all three games in Group A of the All-Ireland series to top the pool, and now they’ll face a Sligo side who finished second in Group A behind Louth.

Antrim were relegated from the Intermediate grade last year but are keen to make a quick return, while Sligo went down to the Junior ranks in 2022.

With 6-14 to date across the TG4 All-Ireland series, Antrim’s Maria O’Neill is a player very much in form.

O’Neill is second behind Eimear Smyth in the race for the ZuCar Golden Boot award and could overtake the Fermanagh star on Sunday.

Antrim: Á Devlin; N McIntosh, M Blaney, M Mulholland; S O’Neill, C Brown, C McKenna; A Mulholland, Á Tubridy; T Mellon, M O’Neill, A Kelly; B Devlin (capt.), O Dahunsi, L Agnew.
