My happy place… NI international Kerry Beattie on what it means to secure a permanent move to Aberdeen

The real deal... Kerry signs on for the Dons

NORTHERN Ireland international striker Kerry Beattie has returned to Aberdeen on a permanent transfer following her departure from Hearts.

Beattie, who has featured for Northern Ireland on 11 occasions, joined the Dons on loan in January 2025 and was an instant success in the North-east of Scotland, netting nine goals in 18 games to ensure Aberdeen Women remained in the SWPL1, as well as also reaching a first ever Scottish Cup semi-final.

The attacker began her senior career at Glentoran in the NIFL, before spending a year at Glasgow City in 2022. Beattie then returned to the Glens where she netted an incredible 45 goals in 23 games, taking her total for the club to 77 goals in 74 outings across both spells.

A title winning season in Northern Ireland saw Hearts pay a fee to bring Beattie to Edinburgh, where she became the first Northern Irish Women’s player to move for a transfer fee.

Injury interrupted Beattie’s time in the capital and the forward spent the second half of the 2024/2025 season in Aberdeen where she made history by becoming the first Aberdeen Women player to receive a senior international call up.

Beattie, who has signed a two-year deal with the Dons, reported back to Aberdeen to begin pre-season earlier this week and is delighted to back at Cormack Park for good.

“I’m really happy to be here. Finally, the day has come, and I am really excited to get started again”, said Kerry.

“I had made my decision in April that this is where I wanted to come. It is the first time in my career that I have been away from home and where I’ve had happiness both on and off the pitch which is when I thrive.

“Everyone here has such a tight bond, it’s a special feeling so to be part of that is amazing.

“The club is moving in the right direction and that is something I really wanted to be a part of.

“I feel like I love the club. There is a special connection, and I’m so excited for the new season.”
