PORTADOWN College got their All Ireland Schools Kate Russel Cup campaign off to a winning start in Dublin by beating Loreto, Kilkenny 1-0 in their opening match.
Goalscorer for Portadown, late in the fourth quarter, was Rebecca Owen who got a last tap on a superb aerial throw from captain Rebekah Lennon.
The 10 game tournament is played over two days. Portadown College are the Ulster representatives due to their Schools Cup win over Royal School Armagh last month at Stormont.
Portadown College finished the first day of action at the Kate Russell Cup with a 0-0 draw against Crescent College. Friday will see them return to action with two more games where they will be hoping to pick up maximum points.
