Recognition for Female Contribution to Professional Football among the honours to be handed out at new look NIFL Football Awards night, co-hosted by Helen Evans

MUTV's Helen Evans will co-host the awards

AN inaugural women’s football award will be presented at a new look annual NIFL Football Awards ceremony on Saturday, April 12 at the iconic Titanic building in Belfast.

The award for Female Contribution to Professional Football is one of several new categories being introduced this year.

The prestigious new awards are a modern take on celebrating the best of all professional football in Northern Ireland, both on and off the pitch – honouring not only the best individual performances but best-in-class for the contribution NIFL clubs make to their communities and the football industry.

This unmissable black-tie event of Awards & entertainment will be hosted by MUTV presenter Helen Evans, wife of Manchester United and NI legend Jonny, and Cool FM’s Curtis McCosh.

Gerard Lawlor, NIFL Chief Executive said: “We’re excited to bringing these awards to the Titanic – there is so much talent within our leagues, and so much to celebrate – so this new look event is the perfect opportunity to honour our clubs and our people, and the buzz is already building towards the big night.

“The NIFL Football Awards are not just about what happens on the pitch, it’s about bringing together and showcasing all that is great about our football family also off the pitch and honouring the many volunteers who make clubs run of a weekly basis – and I can’t wait for everyone to join us for this milestone event in April.”

Sitting alongside the likes of the traditional Player of the Year and Manager of the Year titles, the NIFL Football Awards will see new categories up for grabs, including Club community initiative of the year, Female contribution to professional football and the Heart of the Club award.

Also, for the first time, the NI Football League will be calling on fans to have their say to determine the best of the best for the 2024/2025 season, with public nominations for selected awards opening in the coming weeks.
