Ulster women’s hockey Premier League round-up… wins for Armagh and Belfast Harlequins, with latest standings

Armagh team which defeated Banbridge

BELFAST Harlequins and Armagh both secured home wins in the weekend’s two games in the Legacy Wealth Management Premier League.

Armagh gained their second win of the campaign as they edged past Banbridge with a 2-1 win.

Penalty corners proved to be the difference between the two sides with Mia Taylor netting her second of the campaign with just 10 minutes on the clock.

After a tight game, Daisy Nicholson opened her account for the season as she scored a second goal for her side from another well worked corner in the final quarter.

A Banbridge strike proved to be just a consolation as Armagh earned their first win since the opening day of the season and now climb to seventh in the table.

Belfast Harlequins got back to winning ways as they beat Lisnagarvey 4-2 at Deramore Park.

A bright start to the game saw Quins take a quick 2-0 lead as Claire Whiteside’s brilliant work down the left wing ended as she picked out Megan Getty in the circle.

The second goal came just moments later as Katie Larmour converted from a penalty corner.

Despite two goals seeing Garvey get back into the tie, Jenna Henry struck from a second Harlequins penalty corner to restore the lead.

Just three minutes before the end of time the result was put beyond doubt as an initial strike from a corner was saved by Anna Wilson before Sophie Hunter converted from the rebound.

The win ends a run of three games without a victory and sees Quins climb to fourth in the table.
