The big hits keep coming for goal ace Zoe Wilson… after successive Ulster title wins with Queen’s, promotion to All Ireland top division is next aim

Zoe has enjoyed success with Ireland

ZOE Wilson is an integral part of the Ulster Premier League winning Queen’s University, Belfast side and has scored 16 goals this season from centre midfield, making her the current joint top scorer in the league with one game left to play.

Her career has been superb, she gained her first Irish senior cap aged just 18 and has gone on to play 105 times for Ireland. Her career highlight was the team’s World Cup silver medal success in 2018!

When it comes to her favourite stadium, it is Lee Valley in London, the venue where she and her team-mates achieved that remarkable medal.

Before signing for Queen’s, Zoe played for Randalstown HC, Belfast Harlequins and also Harvestehuder in Hamburg, Germany.

Zoe has also scored five goals in the All Ireland EYHL2 League this season and on Saturday, April 26, Queen’s face Monkstown in the semi final as they chase promotion to the EHYL top division.

“My whole family are sporty, it can quite competitive sometimes,” Zoe admits.  She, herself, focussed on hockey from the age of 15 which obviously has paid dividends. Before that she took part in many sports including badminton, football, tennis and athletics.

What about outside sport?

“I have a one year old Vizsla puppy called Gus so he keeps me busy,” Zoe relates. “You will usually find us in parks, up mountains or in a dog friendly cafe.”

Zoe has achieved the first half of her aims for this season by defending the Ulster Premier League title. Queen’s were pushed hard by a young Portadown squad but won the decisive head to head at Edenvilla last month in front of a huge crowd.

The second half of her ambition for 2025 is to gain promotion to the EYHL. That will require a win against Monkstown at the end of the month.

Success will help Zoe progress onto another long term aim, to play in the EYHL top level.
