SATURDAY saw superb running conditions at Belfast’s Victoria Park for the NI and Ulster Road Relay Championships.
Lawson Cochrane, head coach at Willowfield Temperance Harriers, was a happy man when his young women’s team won the title for the second year in a row.
Kirsti Foster took the lead leg and ran an incredible time of 10:33 for the two miles, passing onto Emer McKee who sped round in 11:07.
Then it was the turn of Emily Morris who completed her leg in 11:46, passing on to another Foster, Lucy, who brought the baton home with an 11:23 effort for a gold medal result in a combined time of 44:47.
Silver went to Lagan Valley in 46:49 and Annadale Striders took the bronze with 48:13.
The veteran (+35) women’s relay was won by Annadale Striders.
