NI women athletes delivered standout performances at the Valencia Half Marathon and Dublin Marathon over the weekend of October 26, setting records, placing on podiums and achieving personal bests.
Hannah Irwin achieved her second Northern Ireland record in a matter of weeks at the Valencia Half Marathon in Spain, clocking 70:49 to surpass her previous best of 71:04, set at last year’s Antrim Coast Half Marathon.
Emily Haggard Kearney (North Belfast Harriers) followed closely, finishing just one spot behind Hannah with a time of 71:26, narrowly missing her personal best.
At the Dublin Marathon, Ann Marie McGlynn (Omagh Harriers) successfully defended her Irish title, completing the race in 2:34:05. Gladys Ganiel (North Belfast Harriers) finished just shy of the podium in fourth place with a time of 2:39:11. Michael Fox (Armagh AC) achieved a remarkable PB of 2:21:37, being the first Northern Ireland athlete to cross the line.
