South African connection will boost Holywood this summer as new coach and player sign up

HOLYWOOD Cricket Club has announced experienced South African Yolandi van der Westhuizen as their Women and Girls’ Head Coach for the coming season.

Yolandi is currently the Boland Senior Women and U19 Coach and is a former South African international. 

A club statement welcomed Yolani, saying: “We are very excited to further develop Holywood’s many talented female players by providing an excellent coaching and mentoring structure.”

Yolandi has played eight One Day Internationals and 12 T20 matches as a wicketkeeper/batter between 2009 and 2014 for South Africa women.

Meanwhile Holywood’s new South African player, Karabo Meso, has made her debut for the national team.

The club added: “We’re really looking forward to seeing Karabo play for Holywood this summer while she pursues her education at Rockport School. Karabo is a talented young Wicket-Keeper/Batter who has played for the Lions in Johannesburg and who has progressed from the South African U19s, appearing in the 2023 World Cup, to make her full international debut, aged 16.”
