Six-hit Glens set for Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title showdown with Cliftonville… with pictures and standings

IT’S going down to the wire in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title race.

Champions Glentoran’s 6-1 win over Derry City at The Brandywell with a five-goal second half blast took them to within three points of Cliftonville at the top of the table, on the same number of games played, ahead of their showdown in the season’s penultimate game at Solitude on Sunday (6.00pm).

Tara O’Connor-Farren put City ahead after 12 minutes but their joy was short lived

Aimee Neal equalised for the Glens on 27 minutes.

Demi Vance then led the second half blitz with a goal on 47 minutes followed by strikes from Rachel Rogan 50′, Chloe McCarron 62′, Kascie Weir 76′ and Emily Wilson 78′

With head to head results deciding the league in the event of a tie on points, for the Glens to win the title, they will need to triumph over the Reds by two clear goals.
