PORTADOWN moved quickly and emphatically back to the top of their section in the EYHL2 All-Ireland League with a commanding 7-0 victory over Greenfields HC in Galway on Sunday.
From the opening whistle, Portadown set the tempo with relentless pressure, controlling possession and forcing the home side onto the back foot as they created numerous goal scoring opportunities.
A strong first half whole team performance from back to front, allowed five different players to get on the scoresheet- Rebekah Lennon, Katie Herron, Emily Adamson, Lara Wilson and Evie Girvan.
While the second half proved to be a more scrappy affair, Bethany Harper and Rebekah Lennon, again, added further goals in the third and fourth quarters.
The margin might have been even greater but for the Greenfields goalkeeper, who pulled off several excellent saves.
In another memorable moment for club and player, 15-year-old goalkeeper Makyla Stevenson made her All-Ireland EYHL2 debut.
It was a busy, but productive, weekend, too, for Evie Girvan who scored a hat trick for her Dungannon Royal School in a Plate match on Saturday morning after playing on Friday night in the Ulster League win over Lisnagarvey and going on to find the net in Galway on Sunday.
