THE Republic of Ireland Schools need only a point from their Friday morning meeting with hosts Northern Ireland U15s at Greenisland to secure outright victory in the Bob Docherty international tournament.
A 2-0 win over Scotland, following on from their opening 2-1 win over England, means the Republic are the only side with maximum points and top the table with six points and a goal difference of three.
Scotland are in second with three points ahead of their remaining game against England who, like Northern Ireland, have a single point.
The annual Bob Docherty Tournament, run by the Schools’ Association Football International Board (SAFIB), is being staged in Northern Ireland this year, with the games being played at Greenisland FC’s ground in County Antrim and at the nearby Ulster University Jordanstown campus.
The final set of games will be staged on Thursday, April 17. Both games will have a 10.30am kick-off. The English Schools v Scottish Schools match will be played at UUJ, while Greenisland FC will host the Northern Ireland v FAI Schools encounter.
