PORTSTEWART Golf Club pair Mary Glover and Agatha Mullen are the 2024 Ulster Daisy Ferguson Trophy champions after a score of 42 points was enough to claim victory by the slightest of margins at Royal County Down Ladies Golf Club.
The home duo of Sharon Beattie and Carol Shields set an impressive early clubhouse lead of 41 points, having been out early in the morning of the competition. With the weather taking a dramatic turn for the worse after lunchtime, the afternoon tee times were left to battle the elements whilst trying to overcome the impressive score set by Beattie and Shields.
The Portstewart pairing of Glover and Mullen, who would be no strangers to links golf and the associated challenging weather conditions, followed up a front nine of 22pts with a back nine of 20pts to win out.
County Armagh pairing Helen Foster and Maggie Donnelly carded an eagle on the Par 4 8th for 5 points.
