Portsmouth sign Kerry Beattie after Northern Ireland striker’s departure from Aberdeen

Kerry Beattie will add international experience to Portsmouth attack

Northern Ireland international Kerry Beattie has secured a move to Portsmouth Women after two seasons spent in the Scottish Women’s Premiers League.

The striker makes the switch to the south coast club following her release from Aberdeen, where she spent the last 18 months, first on loan before signing for the club in the summer of 2025.

Beattie’s signing brings more international experience to the team, having earned caps for Northern Ireland from the under-17 squad up to making her debut at senior level against Scotland in 2021.

Portsmouth play in the Women’s National League South, which is England’s third tier and despite battling against relegation in the last couple of seasons they have signed a number of players this summer with the view to being at the top end of the table in the upcoming campaign.

Head Coach Jay Sadler said: “Kerry is a proven goalscorer with international pedigree.

“She’ll bring real quality and composure to our attacking play, possessing the intelligence to drop and link, as well as pressing qualities against the ball.

“I’m really happy to add a player of Kerry’s qualities to our squad.”

Beattie has scored four times for Northern Ireland, but hasn’t yet figured under new manager Michael McArdle since he was appointed in March 2026.

Previously she enjoyed trophy success in two spells with Glentoran Women either side of a short time with Glasgow City in 2022.

The 23-year-old returned to Scotland with Hearts in the summer of 2024 and moved to Aberdeen six months later.
