DERRY U14 gaelic footballers are going for a hat-trick of All Ireland titles at that level in the new season starting in March.
And what better way to begin the build-up than with a team-building exercise at Oakfire Adventure park in the city.
Organised by incoming U14s manager, Nigel Craig, the players enjoyed a range of thrill-packed activities, including Zipwire Trekking, Tree Trekking and Aerial Challenges.
Bonded by the experience, the players are now buckling down to training for the hat-trick bid.
“I would be quietly confident we can follow up on our back to back All Ireland wins over the last two years,” admits Nigel, entering his first season as manager but with 20 years service to the game through his club Faughan Vale and as Derry county treasurer.
“We have six players still involved from last year’s title winning side, which is a big bonus,” adds Nigel. “The Oakfire day was designed to help the new players stepping up to blend in and now we go forward in a spirit of togetherness with the objective of first winning Ulster and then going on to secure that All Ireland three in a row which would be a fantastic achievement.”
