Orla Prendergast and Laura Delany stand out as Ireland complete series win in Zimbabwe

IRELAND’S women cricketers have defeated their Zimbabwe counterparts by 60 runs to win the Women’s Twenty20 International series in Harare, taking a 3-0 lead with two games still to play.

Orla Prendergast was a deserved Player of the Match award winner as Ireland hit 169/3 to Zimbabwe’s 109/7.

Orla performed spectacularly with a score of 69 runs with the bat as well as claiming the crucial wicket of Musonda early in the second innings.

It was a memorable day, too, for Ireland captain Laura Delany.

Laura hit her second T20i half century as she became to first Irish woman to notch up 100T20i caps.

Belfast’s Amy Hunter hit a creditable 42 runs after her high scoring feats in the previous two series games at Harare Sports Club.

The teams play again on Thursday, February 1.
