GREENISLAND Women moved three points clear in the NIWFA Barclays Championship with a 3-2 win over nearest rivals Ballymena United at the Showgrounds.
The sides started level at the top on 21 points but Greenisland opened up a three point gap with Lucy Redmond on target twice and Rachel Patterson netting the winner in 80th minute.
Redmond had put Greenisland in front after just five minutes and held the lead until Megan Henry equalised for the home team after 31 minutes.
Redmond added her second for Greenisland on 47 minutes with Megan Henry again forcing Ballymena back into the match with her second on 70 minutes.
Greenisland weren’t to be denied, however, with Rachel Patterson sealing a vital win in the title race.
