Local Women Sport awards 2024 are GO! Get nominating now for best in class in female sport

THE second annual localwomensport.com awards will return to the Europa Hotel on Saturday, April 27.  These are the only dedicated women in all-sports awards in the whole of the UK and Ireland and will honour inspirational women from various sporting fields, including football, hockey camogie, LGFA, rugby, athletics, golf and equestrian, to name but a few.

Sponsored by fuel provider Go, and supported by Belfast Live, these star- studded awards are another ground breaker for Local Women Sport.

The prestigious awards ceremony will be hosted by UTV sports personality and hockey ace Ruth Gorman.

Laura Loughran, from headline sponsor GO, is excited about the forthcoming awards.

Fronting the 2024 launch at Belfast City Hall, alongside Lady Mary Peters, Laura said: “GO is proud to sponsor the Local Women Sports Awards for the second consecutive year.  We nurture and admire talent and we are delighted that women in sport will once again be honoured in an all-female sporting awards ceremony. Last year’s awards were a huge success. We certainly have world class female athletes in our country and it is an absolute privilege to have Lady Mary Peters as an ambassador for 2024.”

Lady Mary, who won last year’s ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ said: “It came as an absolute shock to me last year when I was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award and I’m delighted to be an ambassador for the 2024 awards.  We have so many talented sportswomen in Northern Ireland, so I am confident that the standard of entries will be exceptional.”

Belfast Live Editor, Sheena McStravick, is encouraging sportswomen of every age, from every sporting field, and their supporters, to nominate for the awards.

She said: “Belfast Live is proud to once again partner with these all-encompassing Women in Sport gala awards and look forward to celebrating the huge array of sporting talent in Northern Ireland on the night.  Celebrating Women in Sport in all its forms is more important than ever as we seek to continue to inspire young girls to aim for the stars in their respective sporting fields.

We are also proud that our very own Group Picture Editor and female football coach, Zoe Watson, is on the judging panel, alongside female sports royalty.”
