KILKEEL High School’s treble-winning hockey achievement has been recognised at a Stormont reception.

The County Down school achieved great success in the recent Ulster Hockey School Finals Week, winning the U14, U16 and U18 High School Cups.

Following their success, the school teams were invited to Stormont to celebrate and be recognised for their success by Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly MLA and Diane Forsythe MLA with Ulster Hockey CEO Marc Scott also in attendance.

Following the celebratory meeting, Diane Forsythe MLA said: “It was an absolute pleasure to host Kilkeel High School at Stormont to celebrate their recent exceptional hockey successes.

“Outstanding achievements like these deserve to be marked in Parliament Buildings and I was proud to welcome the teams, their families and the teaching and coaching staff to celebrate.

“It was an honour to have Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly MLA as a special guest to congratulate the teams and present team members with their medals and certificates as well as having Marc Scott, Chief Executive of Ulster Hockey, joining in the celebrations.

“As local representatives, myself and Mournes Councillor Glyn Hanna were honoured to be there.

“Congratulations once again to everyone on these incredible sporting achievements and doing us all proud!”
