THE judges verdicts are in and now the countdown begins to our glittering, third annual Local Women Sports awards at the Belfast Europa Hotel on Saturday, April 26.

Our judges, representing a cross-section of women’s sports locally, deliberated for five hours at the Europa, sifting through and debating the merits of an incredible 650 nominations from you, our readers, in over 20 categories.

Such was the standard and volume, there were no easy choices.

But finally the panel arrived at their winners who will be unveiled on the night by host Ruth Gorman, of UTV Sport, a monthly Local Women Sport columnist.

April 26 will see the biggest annual gathering of local female sporting talent and their supporters under one roof.

Sponsored by fuel provider Go, and supported by Belfast Live, ours are the only dedicated women in all-sports awards in the whole of the UK and Ireland, honouring inspirational, high achieving women from various sporting fields, including football, hockey, camogie, LGFA, rugby, athletics, golf and athletics, to name but a few.

Laura Loughran, from headline sponsor GO, summed up: “GO is proud to sponsor the Local Women Sports Awards for the third consecutive year.”We nurture and admire talent and we are delighted that women in sport will once again be honoured in an all-female sporting awards ceremony. Last year’s awards were a huge success. We certainly have world class female athletes in our country and it is an absolute privilege to have Lady Mary Peters as an ambassador for 2025.”
