FOUR more sides booked their places in the Stevenson Cup and Bowl competition finals at Havelock Park as the U14 semi-finals commenced.

Lurgan JHS, Banbridge Academy, Rainey Endowed and Dromore High School all confirmed their places at the finals in two weeks time.

The day’s first semi-final saw Lurgan Junior High School book their final spot with a 2-0 win over Cookstown High School.

After a tense opening quarter, Lurgan were awarded a penalty stroke but missed their chance to take the lead following a good save from the opposition goalkeeper.

However, just five minutes later, they got their goal as a penalty corner was slipped right before Mia Gault picked her spot to make it 1-0 to her side.

With two minutes of play remaining, the result was confirmed as Maddie Magee doubled the Lurgan lead as she placed through the Cookstown goalkeeper’s legs.

Lurgan Junior High School progress to the final where they will play Dromore High School following their 5-0 win over Glenlola Collegiate.

With 19 minutes played, Dromore were awarded a penalty corner and Zoe Kennedy got the games opening goal with a straight strike before Erin Barnes doubled her sides lead.

Just a minute into the second half, Dromore added a third as Alex McClintock found a yard of space in the circle before firing her effort into the bottom left corner.

Two late goals in as many minutes from Kennedy and Barnes saw the scoreline quickly brought to 5-0 as it eventually finished.

In the first Stevenson Cup semi-final, Banbridge Academy relied on penalty run-ins to edge past Victoria College Belfast.

Maisie Nicholl originally gave Banbridge the lead following a well-worked penalty corner before a VCB forward equalised with a deflection at the near post.

With very few chances for either side for the rest of the fixture, it took penalty run-ins to separate the teams with Banbridge Academy running out 2-0 winners.

The final game of the day saw Rainey Endowed seal their final spot with a win over Killicomaine Junior High School.

It didn’t take long for Rainey to open the scoring as Rois Gribbin picked her spot with just five minutes on the clock to give her side an early lead.

Ten minutes later the side doubled their lead as Ellie Rutledge reacted quickes to a save from the Killicomaine goalkeeper before scoring the rebound whilst Alexa McCrea added a third just moments later.

Despite their comfortable lead, Rainey were unable to to hold on as three goals in ten minutes saw Killicomaine draw level.

Poppy Hannath opened her sides scoring before two goals in two minutes from Darcey Wilson and Hannah Rodgers set up a tense final quarter.

However, following a goalless period, the sides relied on penalty run-ins where it was Rainey Endowed who came out on top.
