High 5 forLeah on San Diego fight bill

BELFAST fighter Leah McCourt will feature in a televised clash of top-5 ranked featherweights that has been added to the Bellator 300 Mixed Martial Arts fight bill. Leah, ranked No5 in the world will face No2 ranked Sara McMann on Saturday, October 7 at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Leah, with a career record of seven wins and three losses, will be hoping to return to winning ways. The 31-year-old — who now trains out of Next Generation Liverpool — most recently suffered a decision loss to Cat Zingano at Bellator 293 in March.

Despite the defeat, Leah, known as ‘The Curse’, exhibited one of the best performances of her career to date. Meanwhile, McMann (14-6) will be aiming to kick on from her dominant Bellator debut earlier this year. The 42-year-old former Olympic silver medallist and UFC title contender comprehensively beat Arlene Blencowe over three rounds at Bellator 294 in April. Adding to the stakes of McMann v McCourt, the women’s featherweight division will be in the spotlight on October 7.

Leah, originally from Saintfield, is a former IMMAF World and European Amateur champion and International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation gold medallist. She is also a black belt in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
