Grace Evans claims medal double at SIAB Track and Field Championships

Grace Evans won individual silver and relay bronze

The Mary Peters Track in Belfast hosted this year’s SIAB Track and Field Championships which saw the best U18 athletes from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales compete.

Grace Evans (St Patricks Maghera) ran the race of her life to finish second in the girl’s 800m in a pb of 2.09.25, she was closely followed by Madison Welby (Friends School Lisburn) who finished third in 2.10.29. Grace also added a bronze medal to her collection as part of Ireland’s girls 4x300m relay team.

Cabrini Pyne (Deele College) finished third in the girl’s javelin with a throw of 38.75m. Emma Reid (Glenola College) was fourth in the girl’s discus with 36.18m. Isabella O’Dowd (Victoria College) jumped 1.61m to finish sixth in the girls high jump.

In Heusden-Zolder Belgium Zoe Toland (CNDR) improved her 1500m pb by almost two seconds running 4.10.82 to finish fourth in the women’s B race.

Earlier in the week at the Lucerne Silver Label meeting Lauren Roy (Fast Twitch Athletics) finished 7th in the women’s 100m in 11.41, she was also part of the Irish women’s 4x100m team that ran a season’s best of 43.89 to finish third.
