Glorious Glens in a goal rush, Lisburn Rangers also win on the road while Blues and Reds are held at home… All Island Cup round up and pictures

THERE were victories on the road for Glentoran Women and Lisburn Rangers in the Women’s All Island Cup while Linfield Women and Cliftonville Ladies were both denied all three points at home by heart-breaking stoppage time equalisers.

The Glens were the biggest winners on the day with a storming 4-1 victory over Waterford at the RSC.

Kim Turner’s side turned into a storming first half performance to lead by four goals at the break, with Emily Wilson opening the scoring with just under a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock.

Rachel Rogan doubled up five minutes after that, just ahead of Wilson’s second of the afternoon before Jess Foy added a third – and all before the half-hour mark!

Erin O’Brien pulled one back for the hosts with 15 minutes remaining but it wasn’t enough to deny the Glens a second win of the competition.

Lisburn Rangers were in Dublin to take on DLR Waves at the UCD Bowl, and returned north with the points in the bag.

Sophie Megaw edged Rangers in front on 17 minutes, with Sophie Kelly-Bradley doubling their advantage with just over 10 minutes of the first half remaining.Keelin Dodd hit back for the League of Ireland side with a successfully converted spot-kick just before the hour, but Rangers held on to secure an important victory.

Linfield shared the spoils with Sligo Rovers at Midgely Park.

The Blues led at the break when Alex Clarke found the net from a free-kick deep into first half stoppage time, an advantage they held until the second minute of added time at the end of the game when Roise Burke’s header crept through a crowded box and into the net.

Cliftonville were hit by an even later equaliser at Solitude at the end of a six-goal thriller with Cork City.

The Reds moved in front on 28 minutes when Teegan Lynch turned home a Grace McKimm corner only for the visitors to respond a few minutes later after Christina Dring rounded off a good team move.

Lynch restored home advantage early in the second half from another McKimm delivery, with Caitlin McGuinness adding a third just before the hour with a finish into the left corner of the net after cutting through the City defence.

However Cork responded with a cracking finish from Fiana Bradley just a short time after that before, in the 96th minute, a free-kick led to Ciara McNamara bagging the equaliser.
