ZNK Mura of Slovenia will be Glentoran Women’s opponents in the Uefa Women’s Champions League first stage on Wednesday, September 4. The Slovenian women lost to Shelbourne in 2022, but twice reached the last 32 under the tournament’s previous format. It’s a winnable tie for the Glens. If they progress, they will face Apollon of Cyprus or Pyunik of Armenia in the second game in their group three days later.
Glentoran are in Group 6, one of four knockout mini-tournaments of four clubs each.
- The winners of the four finals will progress to round 2, into which six teams have direct entry (Paris Saint-Germain, Wolfsburg, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Juventus and Häcken). Five group stage places will be on offer in round 2.
- Arsenal v Rangers is the most mouth-watering tie Group 1.
