GLENTORAN Women returned to the top of the table with a three-goal defeat of Linfield Women at the Blanchflower Stadium.
Two goals from Emily Wilson and one from Aimee Kerr took the Glens two points clear of second placed Cliftonville going into the split in what looks a two team battle for the title with Linfield off the pace in third.
But it was Linfield who might have seized the early advantage when, on 12 minutes, Eve Reilly was played in by Rhianna Breen but her effort was kept out by a superb reaction save from Ashleigh McKinnon with the loose ball then falling for Jodie Loughrey who could only smash it against the crossbar.
Glentoran moved in front just four minutes after that, however, when Demi Vance delivered a perfectly weighted ball from the left to Emily Wilson at the far post who duly knocked it home from the edge of the six yard box.
The new league leaders then doubled their lead just over 10 minutes into the second half. Another Vance cross from wide on the left was met by Aimee Kerr to power home a header from around eight yards out.
The Glens made sure of the points with just a couple of minutes remaining after Kerr collected the ball on the edge of the area, brought it forward past the Linfield defence and laid it off for Wilson to sweep home her second of the afternoon.
