The annual celebration, marked in 150 countries across the world, works to promote the importance of personal wellness, with a focus on five key pillars from sleep and creativity, nutrition and immunity, movement and vitality, mindfulness and serenity to purpose and solidarity.

Running from Friday 20 September to Sunday 22 September, World Wellness Weekend with Galgorm Collection is the perfect opportunity to boost mental and physical health.

In honor of World Wellness Weekend, Galgorm’s Fitness & Wellbeing Instructor, Bevin Murphy has shared her top 10 wellness tips that everyone can achieve.

Bevin Murphy: Fitness & Wellbeing Instructor at Galgorm, writes: “Wellness might be a buzzword these days, but the “wellness movement” is all about creating a balanced, feel-good life that goes way beyond just hitting the gym.

“It’s about taking care of your mind, body, and soul—think of it as a well-rounded self-care toolkit! Whether it’s practicing mindfulness, eating well, moving your body, or just finding ways to de-stress, it’s about making those small, everyday choices that boost your mood and keep you thriving.

“It’s not just about fixing problems—it’s about living a happier, healthier life from the inside out!  Here are my top 10 tips for wellness that everyone can achieve.”

  1. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body and mind energised. Try and fill your bottle at the start of the day, when you get used to drinking water regularly it becomes easier
  1. Get moving: Whether it is a walk with the dog, off to the gym or a night out dancing with friends, try to get your steps in and the heart rate moving upwards
  1. Prioritise sleep: Try to get some much-needed rest, you do need to get ready to sleep so put down the phone, try having a warm bath with some oils and read a little before dropping off for some zzzzz’s
  1. Eat mindfully: try to eat a balanced diet where you can, it can be hard when on holidays or out with friends but at least have something on your plate that is nutritious (alongside that cocktail)
  1. Practice gratitude: waking up in the morning and choosing one thing that you are grateful for on that day really does start a healthy mindset, we can sometimes only focus on the things that seem to be hard without realising that there is so much good going on
  1. Unplug regularly: Try to put your phone or iPad down throughout the day, switch off your emails when you get home, try and do an activity that doesn’t require you to be looking at a screen or taking calls, get out in the fresh air or switch your phone off and pick up a book or watch an old movie
  1. Manage stress: Meditation isn’t for everyone but if you can sit in quiet even and take some deep breaths, sometimes life can be hard and you have the feeling of being overwhelmed, it is amazing how some deep breathing can help slow down the heart rate and give clarity
  1. Connect with others: Make sure you make plans with friends and family; we need connection, and it can be very easy to say “we must catch up sometime” but we never do!
  1. Set small, achievable goals: Break down big tasks into smaller, manageable steps to avoid feeling overwhelmed, couch to 5k is great for new runners, go climb a small mountain with friends or just start that 2ltrs of water a day you don’t have to do it all at once
  1. Take “me time”: Prioritise self-care, it is ok to say “no”, I know some people want to stay at home and take a bath or catch up on your own home life so be mindful that you do take your time to unwind

At Galgorm, Northern Ireland’s premier luxury resort in the heart of Co Antrim, members of the public are invited to take part in one of six complimentary classes on Saturday 21 September, Yoga, Spin or a special Bootcamp at 9am or 10am.

Meanwhile at The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn, Co Down, the team will welcome visitors to take part in a Community Walk and Sea Dip from 9am on Sunday 22 September. Participants will wander through the scenic trails of Crawfordsburn Country Park, enjoying the beauty of nature and the company of their community. Finish up with a refreshing dip at Helen’s Bay Beach before some tea and scones back in the historic surroundings of The Old Inn.
