Former Linfield and Armagh LGFA star Alex Clarke makes full time move to Aberdeen

ABERDEEN Women have snapped up forward Alex Clarke from Linfield on a one-year deal, offering the former Armagh LGFA star a chance to pursue her full time football ambitions.

Clarke (23) heads across the water after a successful spell with Linfield in the Sports Direct Premiership, making 22 appearances and scoring nine times.

Prior to her breakthrough at Linfield, the forward was more known for exploits in Ladies Gaelic Football, playing for Crossmaglen and Armagh, balancing LGFA with time at Newry City FC as a teenager.

Clarke is the next of many to embark on the well-travelled path of moving from the NIFL to the SWPL.

A speedy attacker with a keen eye for goal, Dons manager Scott Booth is delighted to add another option to his front line., saying: “I am really pleased that we are now able to welcome Alex to the club.

“As soon as we had identified Alex as an option, I was keen to bring her across, and I am convinced that she has all the attributes to be a success at this football club.

“She will offer us something different going forward, and I am looking forward to getting her onto the training pitch ahead of a busy campaign.”

“It feels really great to be here”, said Alex.

“Linfield is a great club, I have developed a lot there, but I feel like it is time to move on and continue my progression as a player. It is great to be given this chance. This is an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“My biggest attribute is my speed, which I think is something that we can really utilise in this league.

“It’s an exciting start against Hibs. These are the games you want to be part of. I can’t wait to get started.”
