WET and windy conditions greeted 3739 athletes in North Dublin for the 2025 AXA Raheny 5 miles race, in what turned out to be a very successful day for the women who made the journey down from Northern Ireland.
There was a Northern Irish winner in Hannah Gilliland (pictured), who has featured multiple times on the athletics pages of Local Women Sport.
She blitzed round the 5 miles in a time of 26:34, a time that was only beaten by 38 men in the high calibre field!
Hannah is coached by former athlete Paul Lawther and she runs for the same club as he competed for, Annadale Striders.
In second place was Ide Nic Dhomhnall of West Limerick.
She was, in fact, sandwiched between two Northern Irish women as North Down AC’s Jessica Craig was 3rd in a time of 27:13.
In another interesting development, Hannah’s mum, Alison Gilliland, who has recently returned to competition, was first woman in the F50 category. She ran 32:02.
