ROUND 10 of the Women’s EY Hockey League produced another day of competitive clashes with wins for Pegasus and Queen’s but defeat for Portadown, heading into the mid season break.
Reigning champions Loreto were tested in a fiery Dublin derby at Park Avenue, as Railway Union struck late to earn a draw, with Loreto taking the bonus point.
Queen’s University bounced back from last weekend’s defeats with an important win away to Catholic Institute at Rosbrien while, in Belfast, Pegasus overcame Ulster Elks at The Dub in a provincial rivalry to secure valuable points..
UCD’s trip to Portadown proved fruitful as they claimed vital points to move up to second in the standings, while Old Alex recorded an impressive victory over Pembroke Wanderers at Serpentine Avenue to keep the mid-table race wide open.
