Linfield took the bragging rights in a battle of the Belfast Big Two courtesy of a commanding 4-0 victory over Glentoran in the Girls Junior section at the SuperCupNI.
The Blues started on the front foot, with Lily Donaldson’s low cross causing problems before it was hacked clear by the Glentoran defence. The ball was quickly recycled and Maci Davidson ghosted in at the back post, only to direct her header into the side-netting.
Daisy Coalter was next to test the Glens as the game passed the 20-minute mark, but her effort from outside the area failed to trouble goalkeeper Cara Dorrian.
Linfield’s pressure finally told two minutes later when Maisie Hobson slotted home after a well-worked move down the left. The Blues continued to dominate and doubled their lead on 33 minutes following a goalmouth scramble, with captain Megan McCabe applying the finishing touch.
Glentoran improved after the break, with Eloise McAuley getting away an early effort that lacked the power to trouble Amelia Fleming in the Linfield goal.
Linfield, however, continued to pose the greater attacking threat. Sienna Thomas twice tested Dorrian, who gathered comfortably on both occasions.
The Blues wrapped up the victory with two late goals. Lily Donaldson finished from close range with 20 minutes remaining before Maci Davidson added a fourth shortly before full-time to complete an impressive derby victory.
Crusaders also enjoyed derby success, running out 4-1 winners over Cliftonville thanks to goals from Rachael Kerr (2), Annie McCann and Kelly Robinson.
Manchester United made it back-to-back victories as Erin Innes and Poppy Harris-Jones scored in a 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.
Surf Select also maintained their perfect start, edging out Peamount United 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at Dixon Park.

Both Premier League giants had recorded convincing victories in their opening fixtures on Monday and they came into Tuesday night’s encounter knowing that the winners would be well placed to top the group. With so much at stake, it was no surprise the contest proved a cagey affair.
United took the lead in the first half through Maisie Lewis, and her strike ultimately proved decisive as Liverpool were unable to find an equaliser after the break.
Northern Ireland had to settle for a point after drawing 1-1 with Aston Villa. Following a goalless first half, Abigail Curley broke the deadlock for Northern Ireland before Georgia Jagger equalised for the Villans.
Defending champions Shamrock Rovers underlined their quality once again by hitting double figures in a 10-0 victory over Chicago City. The Dublin side led 2-0 at the break before adding another eight goals in the second half, with Ciara Milton helping herself to four.
In the battle of the newcomers, IL Heming came out on top with a 4-1 victory over Desert Empire Surf.
