TWENTY-year-old artistic gymnast, Niamh McConnell, from Sika Gymnastics Club in Coleraine, has won gold on the balance beam at the 2025 Northern European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Leicester. She also finished as Northern Ireland’s highest All-Around scorer at the event, and placed 5th in the floor final – missing the podium by just 0.15 of a point.

Across all apparatus, Niamh continued to excel, earning the title of Northern Ireland’s highest All-Around scorer at the Championships.
This achievement underlines not only her talent on individual pieces but also her consistency, stamina, and versatility as a complete athlete. Being the top All-Around performer is a major milestone, reflecting her ability to deliver high-quality routines under the pressure of international judging and competition.
This success arrives at a particularly important time in Niamh’s athletic journey and her results will undoubtedly strengthen her case for selection to the Northern Ireland team heading to the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
