Cliftonville surge ahead in Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title race with 6-0 victory over Larne

CLIFTONVILLE Ladies maintained their 100% record in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership with a 6-0 victory over Larne Women to make it 13 wins from 13 League outings this season.

Goals from Kirsty McGuinness and Carla Devine inside the opening nine minutes got things off to the perfect start for the visitors, who extended their advantage to 3-0 when Louise McDaniel struck early in the second-half.

Caitlin McGuinness added the fourth nine minutes from the end, with the relentless Reds still finding time to further extend their lead when Kelsie Burrows nodded home Marissa Callaghan’s free-kick before Callaghan herself completed the scoring in injury-time.

The Reds have just three remaining Premiership fixtures remaining and, though they hold a six point advantage over Glentoran Women, they have played a match more than the defending champions, whose game in hand is next Wednesday night’s encounter with Derry City Women at the Brandywell, which comes just four days before the top two go head-to-head at Solitude.
