GLEN DIMPLEX ALL-IRELAND JUNIOR FINAL
Armagh v Laois, Croke Park, 1.00pm
Referee: Enda Loughnane (Galway)
(Live on RTÉ2)
ARMAGH and Laois both lost by a point to Tipperary in last year’s championship, in the All-Ireland semi-final and final respectively.
Prior to that, Armagh had edged the midlanders in the Very League Division 3A decider by the same margin.
This term, Laois have secured League honours, while Armagh were relegated from Division 2.
Laois won the group game in the Orchard County by six points but the hosts played much of that tie with 14 players, and it was always likely that they would meet again with silverware on the line.
A repeat of the scoring from that game – 5-11 to 0-20 – would certainly entertain those in attendance but Armagh will need to be more resolute defensively.
They, like Laois, have considerable scoring potential, however, and while much changed from last season, are clearly a threat.
Laois are the bookies’ favourites but it would be a shock if this weren’t in doubt right to the final whistle.
