BANGOR-based therapist Rachael Castel, founder of Scintilla Touch Massage Therapy, has launched a tailored service offering sports massage, therapy, and injury prevention support to schools and sports clubs across North Down and surrounding areas.
Operating from two established bases in Bangor, Rachael delivers expert care to athletes of all ages and now aims to bring this support directly to youth teams and school sports departments.
With a background in Sports Massage, Sports Therapy, and Lymphatic Drainage, she offers on-site treatments, workshops for PE staff and coaches, and proactive injury prevention sessions.
“Too many young athletes are sidelined by injuries that could be prevented with early intervention and education,” says Rachael. “My goal is to support local schools and sports clubs by keeping players fit, healthy, and confident in their bodies.”
Preventable Injuries on the Rise
According to The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, over 50% of sports injuries in young people are preventable with appropriate warm-ups, recovery protocols, and early treatment. Common issues such as strains, sprains, and overuse injuries often go unaddressed until they worsen — potentially affecting both performance and long-term health.
Rachael’s new initiative focuses on:
- Pitch-side therapy and recovery support
- Injury prevention education for students and coaches
- Workshops on stretching, warm-up routines, and safe training habits
- 1:1 or small group therapy sessions to reduce injury recurrence
Rachael recently joined Bangor Football Club as a pitch-side therapist, supporting players during training and match days. Now, she hopes to expand this support into grammar and secondary schools, offering services that align with curriculum PE sessions, after-school teams, and youth development squads.
Schools and sports leaders interested in trial workshops or consultations can contact Rachael directly at 07817 628359 or scintilla.touch.massage.therapy@gmail.com
