SIXTEEN year old Grace Davison is one of three NI women swimmers to make the Ireland team for this month’s Paris Olympics, the others being Danielle Hill and Victoria Catterson.
Larne’s Danielle Hill will arrive at her second Games as a current and very recent European Champion, as well as being a silver medallist at the European Aquatics Championships in June in her premier event, the 100m Backstroke.
Danielle has delivered at every opportunity through 2024 and her excellent form will see her as a strong contender in both the 100m Backstroke and the 50m Freestyle events in Paris, with current world rankings indicating that semi-final and final appearances can be the order of the day for the fastest female swimmer that Ireland has ever produced.
Danielle will also be part of a world-class 400m Medley relay, competing on Day 8 of the Games and joins Grace Davison of Ards and Victoria Catterson, making their Games debuts, on the Women’s 400m Freestyle relay challenge on Day 1. At only 16 years of age, Davison is the youngest member of the Team Ireland contingent, across all sports.
Victoria, originally with Ards Swimming Club, is now Dublin based after completing her accountancy exams.
All three have been funded by the Mary Peters Trust.
