LURGAN’S Annabel Wilson (above) was best of the Irish at the 94th Portuguese Women’s Amateur Championship at the Penina Championship Course in the Algarve.
Annabel carded a fourth round 73 to finish the championship in T8 on -6, 12 strokes behind winner Helen Briem of Germany.
One shot further back on -5 was Elm Park’s Emma Fleming, who saved her best round until last (70) to end her tournament in T10.
Hermitage’s Kate Lanigan couldn’t build on a promising start earlier in the week and had to settle for a T16 finish on -3.
The quintet of Irish players was made up by Olivia Costello (Roscommon) and Mairead Martin (Kanturk) who both unfortunately failed to make it past the 54-hole cut.
