An impressive haul of six goals in five matches has landed Linfield’s Cora Chambers the first NI Football Writers’ Association Sports Direct Player of the Month award of the 2025 season

CORA (21) has picked up where she left off at the end of the 2024 campaign, when she fired home 14 times in the final eight matches of the season, by netting a brace in each of Linfield’s first two Women’s League Cup games in April before also scoring in the opening two Women’s Premiership games at the start of May.

“It feels good to get the award,” said Co Derry-based Cora.

“I’ve felt that I started the season well, brought my form from last season into this one and got myself a few goals.

“I try to contribute to goals as much as possible because that’s what it is about in our team and then try to take chances whenever they come my way.”

Cora racks up the road miles in playing for the Blues, making the journey from her home in Drumahoe three times most weeks for training and matches and that dedication has been rewarded with the Player of the Month prize.

“The travelling is tiring and it’s a boring drive, but it is worth it,” said Cora.

“I am used to it though – very used to it. I could almost do it with my eyes closed.”

It is Cora’s second Women’s Player of the Month award, having previously won it in June 2022 after scoring the goals that won the League Cup for Sion Swifts Ladies.
