Northern Ireland U17s comfortable victors against Malta

NORTHERN Ireland U17s impressively defeated Malta 5-1 in a Euro 2024 League B qualifier at the Centenary Stadium, Ta’Qali, this morning.

It was the perfect start for Northern Ireland who broke the deadlock after just five minutes when striker Rhianna Breen slotted home with Niamh Boothroyd doubling their advantage ten minutes later.

Francesca Bartolo made it 2-1 before Gracie Conway’s strike beat stopper Maya Muscat to restore the away side’s two goal cushion.

During the second half substitute Bernie Ferreira’s close range effort made it 4-1 with the Larne midfielder grabbing her second of the day when she robbed a defender of the ball and fired into the back of the net.

Next up for Northern Ireland is another Euro qualifier, this time against Luxembourg. It’ll also take place in Ta’Qali – on 24 February at 10am (GMT).
