THE Northern Ireland Football League has presented a cheque for £3,245 to Women’s Aid, with funds raised during the recent NIFL Football Awards.
The donation forms part of the league’s wider #NotInOurGame campaign, which has brought together clubs, players and supporters across Northern Ireland to take a united stand against violence towards women and girls.
Pictured at the presentation are Karen Devlin from Women’s Aid and David Kerr, Digital Operations Manager at the Northern Ireland Football League, marking another important step in the league’s ongoing commitment to using football as a platform for meaningful social impact.
The #NotInOurGame campaign has seen widespread support across the football community, with clubs at all levels uniting behind a powerful message and using their collective voice to raise awareness of an issue that continues to affect communities across Northern Ireland.
Speaking following the presentation, Karen Devlin from Women’s Aid said: “Women’s Aid is incredibly grateful for the support shown by the NI Football League through the #NotInOurGame campaign, helping us work towards a safer society and ending violence against women and girls.
“This support makes a significant difference to our work, raising vital awareness of an issue that continues to impact far too many lives across Northern Ireland. A massive thank you to everyone who supported this vital campaign.”
David Kerr, Digital Operations Manager at the Northern Ireland Football League, added: “The response to #NotInOurGame has shown what football is capable of when it comes together with purpose.
“Across clubs, players, supporters and partners, there has been a unified commitment to stand up and speak out on an issue that cannot be ignored.
“To see that collective effort translated into real support for Women’s Aid is something we are extremely proud of. It reflects the responsibility we have as a league to use our platform to help drive awareness, encourage conversation and support organisations doing vital work on the ground every day.”
Through the #NotInOurGame campaign, NIFL has used the power and reach of football to call for an end to violence against women, uniting clubs, players and supporters behind a clear message that this behaviour has no place in our game or in society.
