THE EY Hockey League delivered a day of high-stake encounters as teams battled for position in the first set of fixtures of the double-weekend.
In the Women’s EYHL, Loreto continued their strong form with a win away to Queen’s University to stay clear at the top of the table, while Pegasus picked up a valuable victory on the road at Park Avenue against Railway Union to keep pressure on the leading pack.
UCD and Ulster Elks met in an all-university clash, with UCD claiming victory to strengthen their table position. Pembroke Wanderers earned important points in their clash with Portadown, while Old Alex edged a close contest against Catholic Institute in a relegation six-pointer.
