ROISIN Flanagan, of Finn Valley AC, enjoyed a successful weekend in action at Albuquerque, New Mexico as she lowered the Donegal indoor one mile record while winning the New Mexico Team Open Women’s 1 Mile race in 4:40.12.
Gortin woman Flanagan won from Adams State’s Elena Carey (4:49.25) and Morgan Hykes, also of Adams State, (4:52.25), Roisin herself having attended the same college as an undergraduate and PhD student.
Last year Flanagan won the same event and set the previous Donegal best in the distance, a very similar time of 4:40.59.
Roisin has been based in the USA since leaving school along with her steeplechase specialist twin sister, Eilish. Both represent NI and Ireland but also have USA citizenship, due to birth.
