Cathedral Eye Clinic

Cathedral Eye Clinic in Belfast city centre is the first port of call for many when they have a concern about their eyes. With a team of world-class ophthalmic surgeons working at the clinic, they offer cutting edge treatments for a range of eye conditions. But did you know the clinic is also home to Cathedral Aesthetics?

Here, you can avail of a complimentary consultation and a personalised rejuvenation plan that will ensure your skin is glowing with minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment options.

Judith Curry, the clinic’s deputy theatre manager and aesthetic nurse practitioner, says: “We offer a range of treatments, including fillers, skin boosters, facials and peels, but one thing we offer that no-one else in Northern Ireland offers is Tixel skin rejuvenation treatment which is very good for acne scarring, open pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

“In everyday life, our skin can get sluggish, but this treatment basically gets the skin to do what it should do and we are getting amazing results with it.”

Using cutting-edge, state-of-the-art technology, Tixel is a brand – new method of treating skin which improves tone and texture of the skin cells. Known for its thermal effect, the revolutionary Tixel machine uses advanced fractional thermal energy administered by the movement of a handheld device with a medical grade titanium tip and tiny pyramid-shaped pins gently stamped onto the surface of the skin.

Targeting areas of concern, Tixel treatment transfers natural heat to the skin, which triggers and promotes natural collagen production. Collagen is what keeps skin from sagging, giving that plump and youthful look. Nurse Judith continues: “We are finding it is popular with middle to older ladies who maybe don’t want to go down the route of injectables.

It’s an excellent treatment. “In terms of downtime, you might feel like the skin is burning for one or two hours after the treatment but after two hours, it completely goes away. The area around the eyes can swell a bit but that will go by day three or four. “We recommend at least three treatments four
to six weeks apart. You’re boosting the skin at intervals. Every four to six weeks, you’re giving another boost and it’s constantly working under the skin.

“I would say people have reported to me they have seen a difference after one treatment, that
their skin looks fresher and there is more of a glow from the skin.” Nurse Judith says treatments, such as wrinkle reduction injections, will allow clients to get results in time for Christmas. “You get the final outcome within two weeks,” says Nurse Judith. “You also get immediate results with lip fillers,
while skin peels, you can have those before Christmas and your skin will look fresher. If you
have a peel, you will probably experience some peeling around day three, most likely on the chin
and the corners of the nose. That will last for a couple of days.

“Your consultation is free, you come in for a consultation that’s free of charge and you’re under no obligation to go for a treatment. “We tailor our treatment plans to suit everyone and their individual needs. We look at what they want to achieve, how to go about that, around their timescale, their budget, and we work with them to give them the best outcome. “I really enjoy my job. I am interested in making
subtle changes, nothing that looks ridiculous. As a practitioner, I want to achieve a look that makes people feel good about themselves and that people will notice but won’t know they’ve had anything done. I’ve found that subtle changes make a big difference.”
