LAURA Comer (above left) emerged victorious in the Women’s Singles event at the Expleo Ulster Premier Open at Lisburn Racquets Club, defeating top seed Ciara Dwyer in the final.
The event provided great badminton over the day, with new emerging young talent breaking through, along with some returning players taking home titles.
Former Commonwealth Games players Sinead Chambers and Ciaran Chambers put in an experienced performance to win the Mixed Doubles title against fellow Ulster pair Curtis Presho and Chloe Woods. Dublin’s Jennie King and Kate Frost won the Women’s Doubles title with a solid performance.
There were semi-final positions for both Rosin McKenna and Paige Woods in the Women’s Singles. Sinead Chambers and Laura Comer lost out in the Women’s Doubles semi-final in two tight sets to the eventual winners while Ryan Stewart and Keady Smith reached the semi-final of the Mixed Doubles before losing out to Ciaran and Sinead Chambers.
