Tier 2 Final winners Ballyclare with former club player and NI international Aimee Kerr, chief guest on the day

BALLYCLARE Comrades Ladies, the biggest all-female club in Newtownabbey, with members aged 5+ through to seniors were successful in the first of their new Champions League tournaments which began with a four-team event for 2011 girls.

Ballyclare were joined by Carniny Youth, Glen Magic Soccer (Drogheda) and St Oliver Plunkett, Belfast.

In the Tier 2 Final, the hosts overcame St Oliver Plunkett 2-0 while in the Tier 1 Final, Glen Magic scored a 3-0 win over Carniny Youth.

Prizes were presented by Aimee Kerr, a former Ballyclare player who graduated to Glentoran and now the Northern Ireland squad.

Ballyclare’s next Champions League tournaments are on Saturday, May 31 – actual Champions League Final day when Inter Milan meet Paris SG – for 2014 and 2015 girls.
