THE eagerly anticipated new NIFL women’s season is nearly upon us and will kick off in April with the new look VBET Women’s League Cup.
Last season Cliftonville Ladies defeated Lisburn Rangers at Blanchflower Stadium in front of 1,102 fans – a record crowd for a female match in the NI Football League!
The competition starts on Friday, April 11, and will now see two groups battle it out for their place in the VBET Women’s League Cup Final. Each team will play three group games, with the winners the two groups earning their place in the showpiece final.
Holders Cliftonville Ladies will contest group A alongside Derry City Women, Linfield Women and Lisburn Ladies.
Whilst in Group B consists of last season’s finalists Lisburn Rangers alongside league runners-up Glentoran Women, Crusaders Strikers and Larne Women.
As the excitement continues to build to another big season of female football, fixtures for the new Sports Direct Women’s Premiership season will be released on Thursday, March 13.
