Action from Lurgan's win over Banbridge

IN the Legacy Wealth Management Premier League Queen’s University made it two wins from two as they beat Lisnagarvey 1-0 at The Dub.

Following a tense opening half, the reigning champions finally found a breakthrough as Mimi Bradley broke the deadlock.

She was picked out in the circle by Katie Kimber before slotting home what proved to be the game’s only goal.

The result sees Simon Bell’s side stay second in the table, only behind Portadown on goal difference.

Belfast Harlequins were unable to build on last weekend’s 7-0 win over Banbridge as they drew 0-0 at home to Omagh.

Despite plenty of chances for the home side, they were unable to find a breakthrough against a stern visiting defence.

The result sees Quins slip to third in the table with four points after two games, whilst Omagh get their first point of the season.

Elsewhere, Lurgan put in a much-improved performance as they beat Banbridge 3-0 at home.

Three goals from Lydia McNeil, Mia Proctor and Charlene Stewart sealed the win at Lurgan Junior High School as Andy Brown’s side put last week’s heavy defeat to Portadown behind them.

The side now move into sixth place and ahead of a trip to Omagh in their next fixture.

Newly promoted Mossley got their first win as they won 2-0 at home to Ballymoney thanks to two goals from Lucy Campbell.

The win sees Davy Menaul’s side climb to fifth in the table ahead of a trip to Lisnagarvey this coming weekend.

On Friday night, Portadown won 5-0 for a second week in a row as they thrashed Armagh at Edenvilla

Leah Galbraith opened the scoring just moments after the game got underway as she converted from a penalty corner, getting her side off to a perfect start.

Having threatened throughout the first quarter, the side finally got their second goal in the 20th minute of the game when Rebekah Lennon found older sister Rachel and she doubled their advantage.

Soon after it was three as Emily Adamson found Evie Girvan and her reverse strike flew past the goalkeeper before Adamson got a goal of her own following interplay from teammates Lara Wilson and Alyssa Summerville.

The scoring was finally rounded off in the fourth quarter when Girvan was quickest to react to an Armagh defensive error and got her second of the game to seal the 5-0 win.
